Affirmations To Boost Your Self-Confidence

It's not uncommon to struggle with negative thoughts about ourselves or the world around us. While there are a number of ways to deal with such thoughts, one of the easiest and most effective methods to do so is by using positive affirmations. There are many different affirmations that you can say each day; the key is finding which work best for you and learning how to use them effectively.

A "positive affirmation" is a phrase or quote you say to yourself to combat any overwhelming negative thoughts. Many people say positive affirmations or read quotes to help change their current mindset or motivate them to accomplish a task. The goal of using or saying a positive affirmation is to train your mind to see things in a different, more positive light and help you focus on the good.

Benefits of Affirmations:

  • Improve your mood

  • Reduce stress

  • Seeing yourself through a new perspective

  • Minimizing self-doubt

  • Making you more focused and productive

  • Raising your energy levels

  • Helping you believe in your dreams and goals

  • Making you a happier person

  • Helping you to get rid of negative thinking

How To Use Affirmations:

  • Be consistent. Make affirmations a part of your daily routine!

  • Start slow. If you are having difficulty starting this process, try repeating one affirmation a day and then increasing as the days go by.

  • Set your affirmations in the present. This will remind you of what you can do right now, as opposed to what happened in the past or what can happen in the future. While having goals is important, affirmations are meant to help you change long-standing patterns, which you can do in the moment.

  • Get personal and specific. Affirmations should be based on what real, specific traits you want to change. That is where they’ll have the most benefit for you.

  • Pay attention to your tone of voice. When repeating your affirmations, pay attention to how you say each word. How you express each word can truly make a difference. For example, you could say in a monotone voice, "I am confident." Or, you can put emphasis on each individual word to say it in a confident tone: "I AM confident."

  • Be patient with yourself. It may take some time before you see changes in the way that you’re feeling, but that doesn’t mean your hard work isn’t paying off.
